Destiny, Luck, and Free Will
Life is the greatest mystery of all. No one person can truly dictate or predict what you are destined for in your lifetime. For there is Destiny, Luck, and Free Will. But if there is a system that can offer an unbiased view of our own life as a whole, helping us to understand the forces that constantly act on each of us in the background, it is BaZi, Four Pillars of Destiny.
We all have our own natural rhythms and cycles. Daoism teaches us the value of nature and the importance of following natural rhythms and cycles. It’s the 21st century. We aren’t meant to be constantly working and producing all of the time. We know this. And yet sometimes it's hard to believe. Capitalism sucks you into this spirit of doing, constantly working on yourself, when the truest treasure that lies within you, is you. You in your effortless being. You in your purest state of existence.
Do you ever notice that you function better on some seasons of the year and crash in others?
How can we better follow our body’s rhythm so we can better move with ease versus forcing past our natural ways to the point of burnout. How can we tune in and truly listen to what our full selves and what our soul’s path is destined for?
This is where BaZi can come in as a navigational tool. While no one can ever fully comprehend our existence, we still deserve to live with more knowledge and greater awareness about our life path. Some of this you might already know and intuit to be Truth. Sometimes you need reassurance to overcome those clouds of self doubt. I know I do. That’s how I got into BaZi. As a Seeker and fellow Mystic, I come for the great Mystery, I live to follow my own ordinance to my own Natural Ways, to my own Truth.
From the moment we caught our very first breath, the cosmological order of the Universe had granted us with our distinct Five elements. These elements (Heavenly Stems) and the result of their interactions create patterns that define our prevailing character that can be perceived as our zodiac animals (Earthly Branches). If the Heavenly Stems operate as your mission or your “Why” (Why am I here in this world), then the Earthly Branches can be seen as your “How” (How am I going to enact this mission?) What are the driving forces within YOU that you are aware of? How can you highlight your natural driving forces to bring more of YOU out in this world?
The Four Pillars and the Elemental Phase 10 Year Luck Periods can show the potential and the best timings for your life, but everything else depends on whether you are ready to make the effort and are able to persevere with what’s important, change your ways to overcome obstacles, and take the right actions. While there is Destiny and Luck, there is also Free Will, our agency to make choices for ourselves matched with our own resistance and fear of change.
My wish for you is that you can follow your Destiny with ease and harmony, call in the right opportunities for Karmic Luck to come through, and find the strength and courage to move in the tides of change.
